Home > Highlights > Postadoption Services Postadoption Services Postadoption services are provided to the adoptee, the adoptive family, and/or the birth family (the adoption triad members) after an adoption has been finalized. These services generally are offered after an adoption has been finalized or after a foster child’s permanency goal has been changed to adoption. These services vary by location and may range from information and referral services to respite care and adoption subsidies that are often critical to maintaining placement stability for children in adoptive families. This section highlights postadoption resources on Child Welfare Information Gateway. Resources are grouped by target audience and include information on types of postadoption services, program models for delivering these services, funding for these services, research on the effectiveness of these services, and where to find services in your community.
